We traveled 800+ miles via car with two kids from Michigan to Arkansas. Despite the horrid idea of traveling in a car for 14hrs (frequent bathroom + meal stops) with a 5 and 3 year old, it wasn’t too horrid after all.

AND despite the constant squabbling over who would color which princess coloring page or who would play which Leapster game first… Who would use this blanket or that pillow… Who was allowed to play with this baby or that baby… They survived.

We survived.

It was SO worth it and I’m already excited to plan our next adventure.

Here is the first part of our family vacation in pictures. We stayed in Hot Springs, Arkansas on Lake Hamilton for 4 nights and then stopped in St. Louis, Missouri for one night to rest on the Mississippi River and break up our drive home. We also visited the Arkadelphia Aquatic Park and Murfreesboro’s Crater of Diamonds State Park.

In Hot Springs, Arkansas we started out by visiting the Hot Springs National Park which included a pretty scenic drive up a mountain to a viewing tower and several hiking trails with good look outs over the city. We went up inside the 216 ft Hot Springs Mountain Tower to view 140 miles of Hot Springs, the Ouachita Mountains and the surrounding Diamond Lakes area! It was so fun!
