Do you love DIY recipes and projects?

I do, I do!
They have been trending like crazy in light of our generation’s DIRE need to slow environmental damage caused by an overabundance of harmful products. The spot light has been especially beaming on beauty and cleaning products made with petroleum-based ingredients and other harsh, potentially cancer-causing, synthetic chemicals.
When you make your own products, you know exactly which ingredients are going into the recipe. Therefore, you know exactly what you are putting on your clothing, table and countertops. And you know exactly what you are applying on your skin. I don’t know about you, but I want to reduce the risk of toxic chemicals absorbing into my bloodstream to stay as healthy as possible.
Maybe you don’t believe all the hype on the necessity to use chemical-free, all natural cosmetics and cleaners? Maybe, you just LOVE saving a TON of money by making your own products. OR Maybe you’re just a go-getter and like to try new things. Whatever your reason may be, it’s a good one!! DIY recipes and projects are fun!
Now, let me introduce you to my newest favorite blogger, Kathie, who is passionate about all things DIY!

Kathie at Homespun Seasonal Living

Kathie is an extremely talented writer, teacher and homesteader who specializes in a Fiercely DIY Lifestyle! She blogs about amazing DIY ideas for the body, food, garden and home at Homespun Seasonal Living. She has many informative articles and mouth-watering recipes like the following:

How to Make Fire Cider (And Why You Should).
Ohh there’s so much more fun stuff to learn over there! She’s extremely crafty and knows A LOT about how to make the most of the nature and plants around her. As she says,

I live in northwest Montana with the love of my life, Jeff, and our two cats.  We’re dedicated to living a life made of our own hands, a life intrinsically connected to the natural rhythms of the earth.

If you haven’t already discovered her blog, definitely take a second to head over and learn something new. She has a lot of inspiration and knowledge to share! She’s even teaching some online classes this summer. I will be announcing those as soon as she makes her grand announcement!

Gift It from Scratch: Cookbook

I wouldn’t normally share a non-vegetarian focused cookbook on blog, but Kathie shares my same homesteading, DIY values. If you are not going to be a vegetarian (I still recommend cutting back), it’s better to seek out sustainable meat sources and learn where your food is coming from. Making food from scratch is an excellent way to begin mindful food consumption.
Her unique cookbook contains 6 chapters with 10 recipes each: Yeasted Breads, Quick Breads, Comfort Foods, Cookies, Cakes & Cupcakes, and Drinks & Snacks. She offers advice and ideas in her introduction on cooking, baking and gifting. Every recipe features gift giving ideas for every occasion. Perfect for those who love to cook for others or host dinners!

Gift It from Scratch: Body Products Edition

If you want a solid DIY recipe collection for homemade body products, I encourage you to check out Kathie’s Gift It from Scratch: Body Products Edition. Each recipes gives you inspiration for gifting and ideas on other items to present with your homemade items.
In her collection, you can find recipes for body lotion, edible massage oil, hand sanitizer, deodorant cream and more. She recommends using only real, natural, and chemical-free ingredients. My favorite recipes include dried herbs, honey, dried citrus peels and essential oils! If you love all natural beauty, this recipe collection is available on her site for only $4.50!

Gift It from Scratch: Cleaning Products Edition

Here is another recipe collection that is essential for those pursuing a greener lifestyle! There’s no better way to clean your house than using effective, homemade cleaners… always chemical-free! Kathie has all the basic cleaning recipes required for all areas of your house, including carpet, glass, furniture, laundry and dishwasher soap. If you hate moths, you probably hate using moth balls as well…  They are packed with awful smelling chemicals. She even has a wonderful herbal replacement for those as well!
Her eBook is only $4.50 and you get all the cleaning products you need in one collection. Print it out and keep a copy in your kitchen!
