Gardening is without a doubt one of the most pleasant hobbies. Taking care of a garden will bring you satisfaction and will also help you relax and free yourself from the stress of the everyday life. There is a way to make your garden even more beautiful and that’s to attract wildlife into it. This may seem hard to you now but once you start, you will see that it is actually pretty easy. The best parts of all is that you won’t have to worry about getting pesticides and other toxic products for a while because they will certainly repel all insects and other wildlife you are trying to attract.
Wouldn’t it be nice, if your garden could be a shelter for birds, insects and other wildlife? You have the chance to turn your simple hobby into something more, so take advantage. The truth is that you don’t even have to do anything that special. With a couple of simple steps, you will be able to prepare your garden for its new visitor and make it more beautiful than ever. Here is how you can achieve this with a couple of easy steps:

Make a pile with pieces of wood

Collect all pieces of wood you can’t use for anything else and make a pile in one of the corners of your garden. This could turn into a shelter for different small animals and various insects. You can do the same with rocks. The best thing about this idea is that your special piles won’t need additional maintenance.

Make birdhouses and insect hotels

It is possible to find beautiful and effective birdhouses in the shops, but making your own is certainly more interesting and satisfying. All you need is several pieces of wood you’ll have to put together using hammer and nails and a saw to make two holes. The first one will serve as an entrance and the second one will be for the perch. You can draw various things on your new birdhouse and decorate it any way you like. Insect hotels are another interesting idea, as they provide shelter for bees and other species. Several hollow stems of bamboo will make a nice house for the bees. You just have to tie them together and hang them on a tree or something else near your garden.

Cease the usage of pesticides

Maintaining your garden always clean and free from all pests has probably turned into a habit for you over the years but in case you want to attract wildlife, you will have to stop using pesticides and herbicides for a while. You can still clean the weed and other plants you don’t need to preserve the good order in your garden, but you will have to do it by hand.

Leave water for your new friends

Animals like birds need water, especially during the hot summer days. One way to attract them to your garden is to leaving a bowl with water on the ground. Adding a bird bath is also a good idea, which won’t require serious financing and will give good results.
As you can see, it is not difficult to attract wildlife into your garden after all. If you need more ideas, you can always ask your friends who also have a garden for their special tips. We can assure you, however, that once you take the necessary measures to prepare your garden, the animals and the insects will appear before you know it. You will certainly feel satisfied now that you know that your garden can be more than just a beautiful part of your home. So, don’t waste any more precious time and start with the preparations.
