Red Barn Diapers

Red barn diapers were making nappies under licence from nifty nappy cloth diapers and had several different diaper types.

The diapers were a mix of fitted diapers, all in two diapers, newborn diapers swim diapers, diaper covers and the heavy doody diaper which was a night time diaper. If you are not sure about all these different diaper types, remember to read our guides on how to use reusable diapers.

Heavy Doody Diaper

The Heavy Doody diaper is designed to work for that really super heavy wetter that nothing else works for, not even the Nifty Nappy which is touted as a super absorbent diaper. Our Heavy Doody Diaper is double the absorbency of  the Nifty Nappy Fitted, while still being breathable.  This diaper is designed to be worn with a cover. If paired with a wool cover for more protection these will keep PJ’s and sheets dry. Sorry no cuteness factor here, BUT plenty of thirsty fabric!  This diaper is designed to be worn with a cover.

Why the Heavy Doody Diaper?

Our Nifty Nappy™ has been called one of the most absorbent cloth diapers on the market, but for some that is still just not enough to make it through a long night with a super heavy wetter. I wanted to make a diaper that would fill this need. Our Heavy Doody diaper is double the absorbency of our Nifty Nappy™, while still being breathable.

Size
The Heavy Doody diaper is a one size (OS) diaper. It is made from the same pattern as our Nifty Nappy, so it will fit from 7lbs to potty traning, but it is really designed for the ages of 9-18 months when the wetting seems to increase in some children. Even with the added layer these diapers have a very trim fit and are designed to fit under the belly.  There should not be any sag in the bum or too much bulk.

Organic Bamboo Velour is 70% Organic Bamboo Viscous / 30% Organic CottonOrganic Hemp Fleece is 45% Organic Hemp / 55% Organic Cotton The Heavy Doody has the snaps through all the layers of fabric so they won’t pull through. Plus the high quality resin snaps make diaper changing a SNAP -couldn’t resist!

Care Instructions
For care of the fitted diaper simply dump the unwanted “objects” into the toilet. When washing do NOT use fabric softeners or detergents with enzymes. When drying you may dry in the dryer on a gentle cycle, but for longer life allow to air dry. For ammonia smell our secret is Tea Tree Oil; just 5-8 drops in a wash cycle. The Nifty Nappy™ AI2 diaper is the old pocket diaper perfected.  Many people used the Pocket diaper with the insert simply laid in instead of stuffing it in the pocket.  With the enclosing of the PUL there are less test for being CPSIA compliant and they are now made the way people were using them before.  When you use our AI2, there is no need for a cover.  This Nifty Nappy™ AI2 really is a convenient diaper.

Why the AI2 diaper?
What is an AI2 diaper?  Basically it is a diaper that that has everything you need in 2 steps.  (All-in-2)  The outer shell and then the lay-in insert.  AI2′s are good to use when you need the convenience of a one step diaper change. With AI2′s you can put the diaper on and go.
This can be very handy for:
■ outings to the park
■ play dates
■ running to the store
■ going to a babysitter
■ day cares
■ daddy time

Size
The Nifty Nappy™ AI2 is a one size (OS) diaper. It is made to fit from 7 lbs. to 35 lbs. The versatility of a OS diaper saves you money because you have to buy fewer sets of diapers over the course of cloth diapering. They are also great with multiple kiddos as you can use it on your 3 month old and your 2 year old. These diapers fit really trim and are designed to fit under the belly.  There should not be any sag in the bum. They can easily take you all the way through potty training.

Materials
The Nifty Nappy™ AI2 is made up of 3 layers and an insert:
■ Outer layer: cute cotton knit print
■ Sandwiched layer: PUL which is the waterproof layer; In our diapers there is no access to the PUL so it will last longer.
■ Inner layer: microfleece to wick the moisture in to the absorbent insert
Our inserts have the the wonderful qualities of Hemp and Bamboo absorbency.  The inserts are made with a layer of Organic Hemp Fleece and a layer of Organic Bamboo Velour.  Sewn in “fortune cookie” fashion they are easy to wash and quick to dry.
